This piece was originally painted in October 2025. I used a reference photo from a walk down the Deschutes River trail just outside my neighborhood (so lucky, so dreamy!). I was with my husband, daughters and in-laws. My husband was fly fishing, my father in law was watching my rock-hopping wild girls, and I strolled with my mother in law to one of my favorite spots on this section of river. The trees right here are so stunning, leaning different directions on the lava rock, with the canyon stretching up to the rim with terra cotta colored cliff face. The lighting was just right, and realizing I hadn’t even painted the river basically in my backyard, it was time!
